We offer the following programs in the community:
- School Based Education Program: Begun in 1987, our school based education program offers age appropriate, in-class, interactive workshops on the topics of dating/domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. These workshops are 1 to 2 sessions in duration.
- Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program (TDVPP) Series: Created in 1999, TDVPP is an offspring of our School Based Education Program. The TDVPP is a series of 3-6 sessions designed with the goal of creating a core of school based individuals trained to provide information and assistance to those victimized by crimes of dating, domestic or sexual violence. - Student Activists Ending Dating Abuse (SAEDA): SAEDA began as a student group in the summer of 2004 as part of a county wide collaborative effort to develop strategies to end Intimate Partner Violence. Students attend a 20-hour training program to become peer educators in their community. This program is open to all Rockland County students 13-21 years of age. The New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence in cooperation with the United States Centers Disease Control and Prevention provides funding through the DELTA Project. - Faculty, Staff, Administration, and Parent Teacher Associations: A similar series is offered to school personnel, administrators, teachers, counseling staff, nurses, security guards and coaches. Sessions are also available to any Parent-Teach Association.
In addition Rockland Family Shelter hosts, co-sponsors and is available to participate in many community programs and events to create awareness and understanding and share resources of assistance on domestic, dating, and sexual violence.
