New York State Crime Victims Compensation

The mission of the Crime Victim's Board is threefold: to provide compensation to victims for certain unreimbursed expenses causally related to their victimization; to fund local community based programs, to provide direct services to crime victims; and to serve as the advocate for crime victims in New York State. The Board advocates rights and benefits that continue to balance the scales of justice and to ensure that victims maintain equity in the criminal justice system.

The NYS Crime Victims Board primarily assists victims of violent crime with counseling, compensation for out-of pocket medical expenses, lost wages replacement of essential personal property, transportation expenses to and from court appearances and the cost of residing at a domestic shelter.

Rockland Family Shelter assists victims of domestic violence and sexual trauma throughout the application process.
